"It died as it lived —
full of good intentions, and
roughly three to five posts."
The eulogy
steveblogs.net has been retired. Again. For the third time. If you're keeping score at home — and clearly, at this point, someone should be — this blog has now died more times than most other blogs get chances. The decision was made with great solemnity, a modest amount of guilt, and the quiet relief of a man who just realized that he isn't that good of a writer, and has a life with lots of other things that actually need his attention.
A brief history of good intentions
The blog was born with grand ambitions. It would cover IT infrastructure war stories, audiophile rabbit holes, the occasional deep-dive into vinyl record reviews that nobody asked for. It would be regular. It would have a consistent posting cadence. It would definitely not sit idle for eight months while its author debugged Qobuz's Akamai CDN edge nodes at 7am instead of writing about it.

What comes next
Nothing, probably. And that's okay. The internet has enough half-finished blogs.
Steve can be reached at steve@thehaneys.net for the things that actually get finished.
For everything else — the tales, the hifi misadventures,
the Roon server logs that haunt his dreams — there's always the chance this comes back for a fourth time.
